Vermont's Legal Cannabis Opening Weekend!

Updated: Nov 22, 2022

Vermont launched Adult-Use cannabis sales this weekend, and business is already booming! For the first weekend, three shops were open to the public:

- Mountain Girl Cannabis in Rutland - FLŌRA Cannabis in Middlebury - Ceres in Burlington

At least 70 Vermont municipalities have opted in to allow retail cannabis sales. Other adult-use license hopefuls throughout the state are expected to get licensed in the coming weeks and months.

Each dispensary reported that Flower was king - and outsold all other categories of products. This could be due to current supply, as many products weren't yet available.

Retailers noted concerns over limited supply and product selection as cultivators and processors ramp up production. Beyond inventory concerns, overall operations went pretty smoothly at each store, and demand was steady throughout opening weekend.

According to MJBiz, Vermont retailers this year are projected to generate between $3 million and $5 million in recreational sales, growing to $120 million-$145 million by 2026.
